JOB DESCRIPTION:
Whitaker Ellis earns a solid reputation in the Northwest as a premier structural concrete contractor.
A Detailer is responsible for project support to scrutinize and interpret Architectural, Structural, Civil and, other disciplinary plans provided for the project as needed. They must generate necessary RFI?s to complete project detailing. Project detailed documents are to be used by the Field to be able to construct each project.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Create detail drawings which are ultimately a fusion of Architectural, Structural and all other contract drawings. These detail drawings should ease constructability and answer any drawing discrepancies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and model concrete structure for assigned project by incorporating information from projects drawings, bulletins, sketches, RFI responses, shop drawings provided by other trades, and coordinate drawing submittals with clients. Review and analyze project documents: identifying drawing and specification conflict(s), insufficient information, and missing dimensions, while contributing ideas to enhance project productivity and cost efficiency. Attend project meetings to resolve technical coordination issues and initiate/track RFIs. Review new bulletins and change orders to identify/quantify changes and incorporate changes into Whitaker Ellis? project detail drawings. Notify Project Management of changes that may impact material and labor costs. Contribute to Operations? safety goals by identifying and communicating potential hazards during detailing stage. Proactively work to enhance job-related skills and acquire overall knowledge of Whitaker Ellis? forming through study, training, and hands-on participation in project coordination activities.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Completed coursework in computer-aided drafting (CAD) or an equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of experience reading Structural drawings and performing computer-aided design utilizing CAD/Revit. Strong mathematical and visualization skills. Advanced PC skills; specifically in a Windows environment, including collecting and analyzing data in Excel, creating documents, and preparing correspondence in Outlook and Word. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks; with an emphasis on thoroughness, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in-writing to all levels of personnel. Knowledge of construction formwork systems, take-offs, and estimating processes obtained from education or preferably industry experience is a plus
Required experience:
- Read/Interpret Construction Documents: 1 year
- AutoCAD Drafting: 1 year
- Construction Detailing: 1 year
- 3-D Modeling: 0-1 year (Recommended)
- Construction knowledge (Recommended)
Recommended Knowledge (However, we will provide training!)
- Detailer / Revit Specialist
- Able to follow Architects’/engineers? sketches.
- Familiar w/ most drawing aids/techniques (i.e., modeling, editing, and dimensioning).
- Experience with concrete for commercial, office, residential, retail and institutional projects.

Salary: $48,000.00 to $70,000.00 /year
