Description:
The Virginia Department of Education, Office of Early Childhood, is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to provide expertise, assistance, and support in the field of early childhood education and care as a member of the Office of Early Childhood team. Duties include by are not limited to: collaborating with and performing a combination of paraprofessional administrative and secretarial support duties in the area of early childhood education and care; supporting and assisting in the management of the flow, content, and organization of information in the areas of early childhood and care; identifying, analyzing, and applying rules and regulations of educational documents for content, grammar, organization and format; researching and collecting data and/or presenting unusual problems requiring professional technical assistance or clarification to the director and other OEC staff; and establishing and maintaining hardcopy and electronic records and files.
Considerable knowledge of the policies and procedures of the Department of Education and the field of early childhood education and care.

Demonstrated understanding of state and federal policies and guidelines.

Excellent skills in computer technology use (keyboarding and software applications).

Excellent skills in proofreading.

Excellent skills in oral and written communication.

Demonstrated ability to work well with people at all levels of responsibility and above average telephone skills.

Advanced skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
?
Secretarial experience requiring the performance of a variety of duties associated with the administrative activities of an executive office.
An equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted for this training and experience.

Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

High school diploma with emphasis on business education and/or completion of business school courses.
Successful candidate must pass a criminal background check.
