[Full-time] Medical Office Associate at Evangelical Community Hospital

Location: Pennsylvania

    To perform a variety of clerical and secretarial duties in the assigned office.
    The ability to comprehend established office routines and policies, learns quickly from oral and written instructions, knowledge of medical terminology, understands the ethics of confidentiality, possess good organizational skills and the ability to communicate well with all people. Can effectively act as a liaison between patients and physicians.
    • Work requires very frequent walking, standing and sitting (51-80% of work time).
    • Work requires frequent assisting patients up to 300 lbs in and out of wheelchairs, onto exam tables or scale, etc. Work may require lifting materials up to 30 lbs. (51-80% of work time).
    • Work requires manual dexterity for purposes of utilizing necessary equipment.
    • Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
    • Generally good working conditions. Work may frequently involve unpleasant patient related activities (51-80% of work time).
    • Occasional potential exposure to infectious diseases (6-20% of work time).
    • Subject to injury from confused, combative patients, families and visitors (less than 6% of work time).
    • May be occasionally required to work weekends.
    • Universal Precautions may apply.
    • Associates degree in business, secretarial science or equivalent preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology.
    • Pennsylvania state police criminal record check, child abuse history clearance and an FBI criminal history check required.
    • Work requires basic computer literacy skills and keyboard proficiency. Work requires use of clinical documentation systems, hospital information systems, electronic health records, and practice management system. Work requires basic skills in Microsoft Word.
    • Work requires interpersonal skills to greet visitors, exchange information, communicate with patients via telephone and schedule appointments. Must be compassionate, professional, and empathetic when handling patient complaints and concerns while remaining focused on providing a positive patient experience (more than 80% of work time).
    • Work requires analytical ability to follow standard methods, policies and procedures to provide quality patient care. Must be able to integrate and interpret data from diverse sources to identify solutions (51-80% of work time).
    • Work requires a high level of mental and visual focus requiring mental application and attention to detail. Work is performed under tight deadlines in a fast paced, stressful environment, must possess excellent time management and functional organizational skills to manage a variety of tasks in a short period of time (more than 80% of work time).
