President Trump is defending his right to issue trade tariffs by saying it is an effective way to level the economic playing field.
In an interview with CNBC Monday, the president was asked about reports of China’s alleged currency manipulation and how Beijing uses the practice to offset U.S. tariffs.
He responded saying his tariffs are a way of rebalancing trade with China, and the U.S. has all the leverage to get China to make a deal.
"Even without a fair playing field we’re winning because the tariffs are putting us at a tremendous competitive advantage," says @realDonaldTrump pic.twitter.com/leDmmsJqdh
